Most people neglect their sleep in unimaginable ways. They look at bright blue light on their phones, masturbate to extreme porn, and eat sweet and fatty foods that are hard to digest.

Most importantly, they actively try to fall asleep late in the night, usually at 1 or even 3 AM. These same people later complain about anxious thoughts, lack of focus, and constant irritation on Reddit.

Don’t make the same mistakes. To wake up at 5 AM every morning, go to sleep early. Stop wasting time on “relaxing” after work, and prioritize actual rest – sleep.

Instead of scrolling through your Instagram feed while lying in bed, put your phone away across the room. Lie down on your back, and breathe deeply with closed eyes.

The reason I tell you to meditate is that this habit clears your mind. It erases negative thoughts, makes you focus on the Present, and increases your attention span. In a world where most people can barely focus, it can give you a great advantage over your competitors.

Moreover, meditation eliminates stress and tension in the body, allowing you to fall asleep easily. This habit has tons of benefits, both for your mind and body, and the best part is – it is easy to do.

Learn how to incorporate meditation into your daily life, and do it regularly. Include 10-20 minute sessions in your morning and evening routines.

It will be uncomfortable at first, but once you experience the benefits, you will not want to stop. Another good habit you can do to improve sleep is regular exercise.

5: Exercise and Lift Weights

Exercise and do resistance training, for they build muscle and help you wake up at 5 AM easier.

Aside from using gadgets and eating heavy snacks, another reason why people have trouble falling asleep is the lack of exercise.

It also has benefits specifically for sleep. According to the Sleep Foundation, resistance training can increase sleep quality by reducing the time it takes to fall asleep.

It means that you’ll spend less time worrying about insignificant things in bed and instead focus on resting your body to prepare for the next day.

Do weightlifting and calisthenics 3-4 times a week, and high-intensity cardio 2 times a week. Not only will you wake up at 5 AM more easily, but you’ll also increase muscle mass and improve your overall health.

6: Decrease the Room Temperature to Wake Up at 5 AM

Another thing you can do to wake up early every morning is to decrease the room temperature. The colder your room is, the more tired you feel, and therefore the more easily you fall asleep.

At temperatures below 18°C, our bodies decrease metabolism and activity to conserve energy, which leads to feeling tired and less alert.

You can use this to your advantage. Ventilate your room 15 minutes before bed, and if you live in a warm country, sleep with open windows. This way, you’ll experience a more comfortable sleep and feel rested once you wake up at 5 AM.

Additionally, you want to look at sunlight immediately after waking up, because it triggers better melatonin release later in the evening. You’ll be more focused, in a good mood, have much less anxiety, and deal with stress better.

One of the most overlooked aspects necessary to wake up at 5 am daily is proper hydration. For the best results, you should drink 2-3 liters of water daily.

7: Drink 2-3 Liters of Water Daily

Drink 9-10 glasses of water every day, for you need it to be hydrated and sleep well.

Hydration is extremely important. Humans are 70% water, so if you want to feel good and function well, you need to drink water. A lot of it.

Being even slightly dehydrated causes feelings of tiredness, weakness, and laziness, which we both know are bad for you. Furthermore, if you want to perform well at the gym or at work, you need to focus well, and it often comes directly from consuming water.

When you drink enough water, you increase metabolism and enhance alertness. Water also plays a role in the production of melatonin, our sleep hormone. It will be easier for you to fall asleep and wake up at 5 AM every morning.

Drink a glass of water immediately after waking up, along with looking at the sunlight. For the rest of the day, aim to drink at least 7-8 more glasses to maintain your hydration level.

You can buy a special 2-liter bottle that fits the daily norm, or you can install a dispenser inside your house to get water easily. Whatever you do, just consume more water. You will love it.

8: Wake Up Early Consistently

Many people wake up at 7 AM on workdays, and then sleep until 10-11 AM on weekends. They argue it with “Oh, I need to sleep and rest!” and “You don’t have to rise and grind every day!”

The problem with this approach to sleep is that it greatly messes up your rest. By having an inconsistent sleep schedule, you disrupt your inner alarm clock and perception of time, making yourself tired and less effective.

For waking up at 5 AM to truly work, you need to do it every morning, including weekend mornings. You’ll hate it at first, but as soon as you gain momentum, you’ll start to love it.

You’ll have more energy, feel better, and save your time on more important things during the day. Aside from that, you’ll be able to get more things done early and erase distracting thoughts.

Do not complain about it. Simply go to bed at 8-10 PM, set your alarm to 5 AM, wake up, and do what’s necessary. That’s how you make your life better.
